This isn’t the end. It’s a new path forward.

This year has been a difficult one for my business. I’m sharing this with you to let you know about some changes to resources for community builders.

Deb Schell, Author of Creator to Community Builder

With a heavy heart, I’m again faced with closing a community. At the beginning of this year, I opened a community to bring community builders who want to connect, share resources, and learn from each other.

I offered a free community to share my work and engage with past, present, and future clients. However, the challenge seems to be that community builders are always busy with their communities and spend lots of time in other communities.

With business revenue dropping this year, I can no longer cover the community’s costs. Since I haven’t been able to gather members as hoped, it is time to close this community on Sept. 20th. To all Community Builders with Purpose members, thank you for your interest in my work.

Another update is that the Community Strategy Podcast has ended after 129 episodes. I’ve been podcasting on and off since 2020. For those of you who have a podcast, you know how time-consuming it is. I haven’t seen the payoffs I’ve needed to cover this expense.

As a business owner, my first responsibility is to create a sustainable business, and I’m struggling to do so. I share this with you because I believe in being honest about my experience, even if it isn’t one I’m incredibly proud of.

Stepping away from leading a community and podcasting, I have more time to dedicate to rebranding my business, identifying new opportunities, and working with more clients. I’m looking for words to describe myself and my business — if you have a word that pops out when you think of me or my work, could you reply and share it with me?

Finally, the Fall Community Builder Mastermind is still running with ten members. I’m thankful for those who signed up and are willing to participate to help each other grow.

What’s next? I’m excited about new collaborations and new ways to share my work. I’m considering more workshops, like the upcoming email marketing workshop, and I’m looking for collaborators.

If you are new to my email newsletter and want to know about existing resources, you’ll be happy to know that there are several FREE and low-cost community builder resources.

The website (FindCalmHere.com) is the best place to stay updated with my work.

Here are a few resources you can access immediately to help you in your community and business-building journey.
