Community Builders Thrive with TMI (Too Many Ideas)

Since the Community Builders with Purpose group kickoff this month, I’ve found it interesting to talk with fellow community builders about their challenges, successes, and what they’ve learned.

The idea for the group (aka my community concept) was developed over the past few weeks as I’ve been planning new content, events, and ways to connect with you!

We believe in the power of deep connections and the value of diverse perspectives. We understand that to create resilient and inclusive communities, we must come together, collaborate, and learn from one another.

Our members actively foster meaningful relationships and find innovative solutions to address the challenges faced by communities today.

As I developed my community strategy this year, I’ve decided that the new community will offer a few foundational events and a space to interact, connect, and chat.

Through various interactive discussions, workshops, and networking events, you can learn from experts in the field, share your insights, and build lasting connections with fellow community builders.

Together, we will shape the future of community building, creating welcoming, inclusive spaces and capable of driving positive change in our society.

If you are a new CBWP community member or have yet to join, I’ll share the key events you want to add to your calendar. Click here to join.

We all have something to share

My goal for this new community is to offer a place for community builders to feel like they belong. To do this, I’m hosting a monthly mastermind group. The group meets on the third Thursday of each month at 11 a.m. Eastern.

Our first session brought new community builders from all over to keep each other accountable as we build and grow our online communities. Please arrive promptly if you want to join our February session because we start at 11 a.m. The structure is doing breakout rooms in Zoom.

In addition to the mastermind group, I’ll host a book club to support my new book, Creator to Community Builder, on the last Tuesday of each month at 11 a.m. Eastern.

The third event that I’d like to host monthly is sharing sessions for community members to share a skill, experience, or expertise with topics related to community builders and the challenges of online courses, memberships, or communities.

Community builders can thrive with TMI (too many ideas)!

A few weeks ago, I posted on LinkedIn that I was looking for speakers for events, and from that post, I was able to talk with several people who could share their experiences. In February, we will kick off this series with Windy Lawson.

She is going to help us thrive with too many ideas! Many of my clients have struggled with wanting to launch many things simultaneously, and I tell them that while we can, it’s best to do one thing at a time and put other ideas on a shelf.

If you find yourself starting the new year with tons of ideas, join this session of “Thriving with TMI (Too Many Ideas).” we dive into the world of creative minds often bombarded with an overflow of ideas. To sign up, you need to be a member of Community Builders with Purpose; click here to join.

The key to success is not only in generating these ideas but also in managing them efficiently. Here are the three main themes we will learn:

The Link Between Inspiration and Procrastination

This interactive and engaging presentation deals with the connection between inspiration, which fuels our ideas, and procrastination, a common pitfall for many creatives. We discuss the paradox of how the very source of our creativity can become a catalyst for inaction when not managed properly.

Differentiating Between a Good Idea and an Opportunity

Next, we point out the “elephant in the room” that not all great ideas translate into viable opportunities. This section focuses on distinguishing between a good idea and a genuine opportunity. We’ll provide practical tips and tools to evaluate your ideas and determine their potential for success.

Managing Ideas Without Getting Overwhelmed

We finish our session with strategies to handle the avalanche of ideas that come your way. We discuss techniques and tools to organize and manage ideas effectively. This helps prevent feeling overwhelmed while ensuring every brilliant idea is noticed and undeveloped.

This session will equip you with the knowledge and tools needed to thrive in a world of too many ideas, turning your creativity into productivity.

Regarding business chaos, Windy’s been there, done that, and got the graphic tee! A former entertainment marketing executive turned business coach, Windy traded in her backstage pass for graphic tees and now helps solopreneurs eliminate the chaos that keeps tripping them up the path to success. Below, you’ll find Windy’s contact and social media info; please subscribe and connect with her if you feel so moved!
